After a sad farewell to the kids this afternoon, what better way to get rid of the blues, than to go shopping? We headed ‘downtown’ two buses (32 and 3) 1 ½ hours later, but only 2 Yuan (less than 40 cents Australian) we got to explore the downtown streets of Kunming. The Yunnan Province takes great pride in having 26 of the 52 minorities living within their boundaries, so it makes for some amazing costumes, jewellery, bags that are unique to this province only. One thing common all over China is the love of music and the beautiful sound of one of their many flutes the Hulu Si or gourd woodwind, when the side valves are open it makes a beautiful haunting sound. This gentleman was in his store playing away and sold one of these to one of my very talented roommates. He also gave her a music sheet, all in Chinese of course, a good thing we have translators on hand.
365 days = 365 photographs..rules of engagement; 1.I have to take a photo each day, no matter where I am and what I am doing. 2. Post it, when possible. Not all the places I will be visiting have access to the web; yes I know it is hard to believe but there are still some places like that exist, and they are amazing. 3. No photos from your film library can be used or posted..remember it isn't about the destination, but the journey that takes us there..enjoy. :)
