Day 171: Swim at your own risk.

This is one of the reasons why the locals don’t tend to swim in the rivers around here.  Goliath is an estuarine croc, or as I affectionately call them snappy handbags.  He is estimated to be 50 years old and weighing in at 500kg I don’t feel, so bad about my weight now.  Since November 2003, he resides at the Cairns Wildlife Dome, and has a neat little window in his pond, so he can keep an eye on you, as you walk past.  I was lucky enough to get the eye, or maybe unlucky, he was probably sizing up the nice meat I have on my bones at present.  The rangers had to put newspaper on the window at first to get Goliath use to his new scene.  Day by day a little was taken away and let me tell you he is happy cruising about sizing up the locals.  To get him on top of the casino roof, into the dome habitat it took 1 ½ hours, external crane and 15 men, not a small feat by any means.
