Day 365 – It’s a wrap.

The very last day of 'a Year Through the Lens'.  A photo taken each day, wherever I have been.  Here in our own backyard of Cairns, QLD, Victoria, NSW, WA, TAS, China, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Thailand.  It has been an adventurous year, and a year of many challenges.  Australia and OS has many wonderful pockets to see and visit.  Crystal Cascades only 20min from CBD nestled in the foot of the mountains is a beautiful place to hang out in the heat of the day.  Light filtering in through the rainforest as blue dragonflies and orange butterflies pass through.  Thank you for your wonderful support during the past year, your comments, and likes.  It definitely helped to keep me going and get you something new every day.  Now, it's time for a new project; so enjoy and big thank you. :)

Day 358 – Stoney Creek Falls.

On the eve of Easter everybody is running around getting supplies and heading off for four day weekend.  Yahoo.  Camping is a very popular pastime of Easter getting away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, heading out into nature.   Recent rain has the waterfalls running and creeks a little above a trickle.  The rain may still be hanging around the mountains yet hope whatever you have planned over the break; have fun, travel safe, hope Easter Bunny finds you? :)

Day 283 – Don’t go chasing waterfalls.

I know there is a song in there somewhere, but after nearly 24 hours without sleep my brain tends not to function too clearly.   What is clear is the waterfalls/fountains of Roma St Parklands, the ducks are coming into roust for the night, so must mean I can go to bed too.  Yeah bring on sleep.

Day 261 – Parklands.

Just to the left of dead centre CBD in Brisbane, is the Roma Parklands.  Recent storms took out some of the aged trees in the park.  Yet it still holds the beauty of all different flowers, water features, recreation grounds, and there is even a train that will take you around.  As you walk around, water dragons take up residence on the path, catching the hot summer sun.  You just have to make sure; you are both not heading in the same direction.  Amongst the high rises of the city it is a great place to come chill out and switch off.

Day 217 - Pencil Pine Falls.

There are only two World Heritage Parks in the world and Tasmania has one of them.  Cradle Mountain - Lake St Claire National Park.  Just inside the boundary of the park on the Cradle Mountain side is the Pencil Pine Falls, a short walk from the Cradle Mountain Lodge.  You would think you are entering Alice in Wonderlands world with the moss covered ground and trees, a boardwalk weaving its way to the falls.  A great way to spend the afternoon.

Day 77 – Quietude.

Water cascades over the rocks.  Rouge leaves block the smooth path to the waterhole.  Splashes of water flick upon the rocks to keep the moss moist in rainforest heaven.  Sitting around as the water falls down its path a sense of calm takes over.  Takes you away just for a few minutes of inner peace in a busy world.

Day 30 – Secret Locales in High Places.

Top pools of Wentworth Falls
Trees encase the rocky dirt track that lead off to the right.  Blackberries, brittle tall grass help shroud the track long ago used, as it collects the bottom of the vehicle.  The walls of nature close in further as we go a wombat hole in the middle of the road adds another obstacle.  Finally the track opens to a dirt turning bay, and a very minuscule walking track starts down the steep, rocky embankment.  You can hear the water, but it is yet to be seen through the blanket of bush.  Water starts to sparkle through the trees and the stringy barks, rocks protect its edges before it plummets off the cliff in dramatic form.  On the top of the falls tranquil pools play in the filtered sunlight.  We were only half way through the day, when we found this magic spot.  It really isn’t about the destination; it’s about the adventure you have finding secret treasures along the way.

Day 26 - Buttercup dreams.

All through the Alpine country in Victoria, beautiful camps hug the river banks.  Admittedly at this time of year that proves to be a bit ‘fresh’ to take a dip.  My Victorian blood has thinned out over the years, wimp I know, but doesn’t stop us from admiring the view from the roof top camper.  The best thing is it is free.  Sometimes you don’t need a 5 star hotel room or the price tag, when you can sleep under millions of stars.  It is just a matter of getting out there and enjoying what is on offer.
