Happy Wednesday

Struggling through the week, thinking that Friday is never going to come around?  Just think, half way through working week for most!  Hope you have great things brewing up for awesome weekend ahead?  Like our friend the master brewer in Myanmar at the Palm Sugar plantation.  There is a reason this beautiful man has a smile on his face, it tastes like rocket fuel.  Blow's your socks off, but leaves a beautiful warm feeling afterwards.  How could you not resist a taste?  A wonderful country filled with many smiles.

Myanmar smiles

Have a great day, and hope that smiles are filling your day. If not here is one for you! :)

Day 309 – Dawning of a new era.

There are always two sides to a story, and everyone has their right to their own opinion.  That is the beauty of living in Australia. What we have to do is remember to respect that point of view.   So please take time to hear this side of story of our professional fisherman and the new ‘exclusion’ zones.  Our food does not automatically come wrapped in plastic.  It comes from our primary producers.  I got to know the beautiful Davey family when we were living in Karumba, along with a lot of other professional fisherman.   Some very interesting characters.  (Never knew you could play coconut football in a pub but there you go).  At the end of the day they all had one goal in mind; sustainable fishing to keep it going for generations.  Let’s hope that future can continue.  For more please watch this clip:  Drawing the Line

Behind the scenes: Postcard for you? Bagan, Myanmar.

Amongst the ancient temple walls, in Bagan, enterprising children from the nearby village run out like mini Indiana Jones’.  Through the dust they follow tourist horse and cart, in hope of selling a postcard.  Now these aren’t your ordinary postcards.  They are ‘special’ ones drawn with great precision and carefully put in plastic, so the dust does not spoil them.  Down the track, high on a mound of dirt, tourist wait to get the perfect sunset shot of silhouetted temple, whilst kids take a break and look on.  The digital world is a fascinating one, or is it, what the heck are you taking a photo of that for? I see, and play in it every day!  Who knows but just for a spilt second photography fills their world.

Photography wins over the curious minds; taking a break from selling postcards.
