Day 311: Staying close.

We all like to venture out and do things on our own.  Stamp our own individual status and say yes ‘I can do it myself’.  There also comes a point in time that we need to stay close, and get the support from those around us.  Sometimes, some of us are too proud to do that.  However, never lose sight of the big picture and that is, sometimes we can’t do it ourselves and we need support from others.  Even if it is to nudge us in the direction we are too afraid to try.   Close friends and family can often see strengths in us we never thought we had.  Draw on that strength, and move forward to what you want to achieve, and believe ‘yes I can’, not ‘no I can’t’.

Day 258: She sells seashells.

A great memory from childhood is spending the summer vacation down at Inverloch in Victoria, in a caravan park.  Walking along the beach and collecting shells.  Mum and Dad shaking their head at me by the end of the holiday ‘what on earth are you going to do with all those?’ Some things really haven’t changed I still love walking on the beach and it’s only when a really special shell pops up that  it may find its way home with me, or I just leave it there and capture a happy snap.  There is something about having an afternoon down by the beach make you feel great, and that is what summer is all about; sun, surf, seashells and most of all fun.  Just don’t forget to Slip, Slop, Slap!

Day 39 - Lonely days at beach.

The blacken clouds chased away the beachgoers today, and I think it is the first time I've been on Holloways Beach without people. Except, the lonesome life-saver sitting in the blue box staring out to sea in search of a rescue. No surf rescue going on today, the tide was out, wind was blowing, and the little waves were rolling into shore.

Day 18 - Hoarder

Ok, I am a bit of a hoarder (understatement) however, I love shells. Each time I go to the beach if I see a great shell I sneak it in the pocket and put it in the jars on the bench. "What are you going to do with all those?" I get asked each time. "Don't I have enough!" Never can have enough shells, I'm a beachcomber, and hey just found one use for them! :-)
