Day 362 – Copperlode Dam.

Cairns water supply comes from Copperlode Dam located up in the Lamb Ranges just west of the CBD.  A long winding road heads from suburbia through rainforest, breaking out onto the top of the mountain range.  It sometimes goes by the name of Lake Morris too, after city engineer Mr F Morris who was assigned to find a suitable area for new water supply, for the city in 1935.  Once found and paperwork complete; budget was 3 million, by the time it was completed in 1976 it had blown out to 6.5million.  It is a beautiful place to rest and relax, after a wee stroll up the hill.  :)
