Ever had one of
those ‘oh dear’ moments! It happened on
day 340 whilst visiting the Margaret River area. The wineries, micro-breweries, chocolate
houses are some of the manmade treats in the area. Nature gives you the beautiful beaches and
country side. She also throws up those
rogue waves whilst visiting Margaret River Beach. Wide angle lenses really get in there. Sometimes you have to get a little closer,
not sooo close that a wave is going to take you back out into the Indian
Ocean. As I said ‘oh dear’ on the last
shot, whilst scrambling down the wet slippery rocks, kelp, foot twisting, wave
coming around the corner, slipping, holding on to said camera, and still
remaining upright. Heart beating out of
my chest; still had camera in hand that was main thing all be me a little
wet. As I make my way back to hubby
waiting on the beach. He couldn’t
understand why I high tailed it. I apparently
missed the best shot! Will just have to
live with the one that got away! This
time chose the camera from a salt bath, and yep I may have said something other
than ‘oh dear’ but this is a ‘g’ rated show.
365 days = 365 photographs..rules of engagement; 1.I have to take a photo each day, no matter where I am and what I am doing. 2. Post it, when possible. Not all the places I will be visiting have access to the web; yes I know it is hard to believe but there are still some places like that exist, and they are amazing. 3. No photos from your film library can be used or posted..remember it isn't about the destination, but the journey that takes us there..enjoy. :)

Behind the scenes....
Behind the scenes at Shwedagon Pagoda; the grounds are swept
by a team spanning the base. Magic dance
of weaving in and out of the people walking around, praying, standing staring
at the glory of the stupa rising high into the sky.

Behind the Scenes...
Christmas day; Two dogs, dress ups, props, host of family and friends, Christmas cheer. What could possible go wrong with getting a picture of two puppies on Christmas day? Love working with animals it sets the challenge and when you work with two cuties, it is a bit hard not to have a fun, and get into the giggle loop. :)

Behind the Scenes....Candy
Thank you to the staff at RSPCA Cairns for their time, and
borrowing Candy for some happy snaps.
Let's see if we can find her a forever family by Christmas, please
share. Candy is a beautiful natured
girl, melts your heart and would be a great little mate. (Animal ID 669136, RSPCA Cairns shelter 07-4055 1487). Thanks :)

Full of life, a beach, hot summer's day. Vegas loved running up and down the beach. All be it a little afraid of the water, but hey she is croc savvy so no need to go there...a beautiful spirited girl. :)

Behind the Scenes...
They say never to work with kids or animals whilst taking photos, but sometimes they just bring a smile to your face. :)

Day 229 – Sunshine; Storm; Sunshine.
Mix bag of weather today, but the sunshine held out to explore Holloways beach just 15min from Cairns CBD. The stinger nets are up on all the northern beaches, and if you are a little lucky or unlucky you may even see a ‘snappy handbag’. It’s the mating season so they are on the move between rivers finding a partner. So even better reason to swim between the flags and in the net. :)

One day to go.....it will all begin again :)
I really can't believe it has come around so fast. I was counting down the days then BAM, Dday is tomorrow; 5 April 2012. The beginning of a new year through the lens. So let me brush you up on the rules of 'A Year Through the Lens'. I have to take a photo each day, no matter where I am and what I am doing. Post it, when possible. Not all the places I will be will have access to the web; yes I know it is hard to believe but there are still some places like that exist, and they are amazing.
So sit back and enjoy the ride. This year to start off with at the end of the month be heading to the Victorian High Country and chilling around the outskirts of Melbourne, July heading back to China for the Bring Me Hope camp, plus a couple of days in Honkers, September off on a car rally of the Red Centre of Australia, and right at the end of the year heading to Myanmar (Burma) which is very exciting. Of course there will be lots of 'local' Cairns scenes to get you to come and see a great part of Australia, and a bit of abstract stuff thrown in along the way. Who knows what will turn up this year, but then again that is all part of the adventure.
Enjoy.
Kind regards
Michele :)
PS: Something to get you starting, this was taken when we were visiting Vietnam a really magical place that definitely has to go on the bucket list of travel.

Halong Bay
In the far north of Vietnam, off the
coast lies the pearls left behind by a dragon.
Left dormant over thousands of years they have formed into limestone
mountains; jagged edges protruding from the sea to form the spiritual wonder of
Halong Bay. Junk boats weave in and out
of the mountains on the calm oceans at sunset.
While fisherman earn their living casting nets and lines. Taking back the catch of the day to their
floating villages. Whole cities on
water, children born with sea legs.
Vietnam has many wonders and is one of my favourite countries visited
thus far. It is definitely one to add to
your bucket list of travels.
