Day 213: Camouflage.

We use camouflage in our lives for all different sorts of things.  Mask our emotions, clothing to hide the muffin top, sunglasses to make us feel secure ‘you can’t see me today’.  We’ve all used it at some stage, so that we blend into the background hoping not to be seen.  Our furry and feathered friends use it to hide from predators, and I guess we do that sometimes too.  This little guy was hiding in our garden today, a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet.  He/she must have been camouflaged for Phoenix (our dog) not to see him because he is not a fan of birds especially if he has a bone in his domain.  They are a great fan of nectar, fruit and flowers, with breeding season dependant on honey flow.  Camouflage or not the Lorikeets seem to be having a mighty fine time with all the nectar around.
