Day 353: Mangrove Weave.

The giant moves through the deep, sticky, thick, black mud.  Limbs squelching and sloshing through as he goes working his way down to the river.  To find a home by the water’s edge, a place for fish to hide during high tide and to bask in the sun when it is low.  Ok, so might have had a wee bit too much sun today.  Not complaining it is better than the rain.  Cairns has its fair share of mangroves, tributaries’ with thick black mud around.  The mangroves are a very important part of the eco system.  They not only give a home to the fish and other sea life, but also help filter pollutants from the water, and stabilise the banks from erosion.   With a very low tide today was the perfect opportunity to get right down amongst them, whilst keeping one eye on the water for the snappy hand bags.  Can’t say life is dull.
