In photography it is all about the light. No light, no emotion emanates from the photograph. In time gone by silhouettes, played a big role and still do in all different art forms; profile portraits, movies, graphic design, photography. A person would sit still behind a sheet of fabric, backlit by a light and the artist would cut their profile from a black card. It was in 1759 a Frenchman Etienne de Silhouette enjoyed cutting profile portraits, so much he became renowned with the art form; hence silhouette. It was also the only way prior to photography and cheapest because of high taxes to record a person’s appearance. Some high profile silhouettes of the 18th Century were Jane Austen and Beethoven.
365 days = 365 photographs..rules of engagement; 1.I have to take a photo each day, no matter where I am and what I am doing. 2. Post it, when possible. Not all the places I will be visiting have access to the web; yes I know it is hard to believe but there are still some places like that exist, and they are amazing. 3. No photos from your film library can be used or posted..remember it isn't about the destination, but the journey that takes us there..enjoy. :)
