So how can you not have an awesome day when you spend the morning hanging out with Koala’s? This mummy was just plum tuckered out, and having a rest in the maternity ward at the Tropical Zoo. A few of these little guys looked like they had chomped just a few too many gum leaves today too, just quietly. A lot of little eyes were looking a tad glassy. Did you know; our cuddle little fellows actually got their name from an ancient Aboriginal word meaning “no drink” because they get 90% of their quality hydration from gum leaves. Fussy fellows too, with over 600 types of eucalypts in Australia, the Koala’s only like 40-50 varieties, with a top ten preferred. They are not bears either, they are marsupials. With their young born immature and then they develop in the safety of the pouch. As much as I thought they had a few too many gum leaves it appears to be a myth. They just sleep a lot to digest the gum leaves, go figure. Koalas are pretty cool, and after observing our other national treasures today, kangaroo, crocodile, wombat, they all seem to be having a pretty dawdling day of sleeping and just chilling out. I wonder if this is where us Aussie’s originally got the laid back attitude from.
365 days = 365 photographs..rules of engagement; 1.I have to take a photo each day, no matter where I am and what I am doing. 2. Post it, when possible. Not all the places I will be visiting have access to the web; yes I know it is hard to believe but there are still some places like that exist, and they are amazing. 3. No photos from your film library can be used or posted..remember it isn't about the destination, but the journey that takes us there..enjoy. :)
