Day 192: Josephine Falls.

A short trip south of Cairns, leads to another backyard oasis, Josephine Falls.  Recent rain has certainly boasted the creek levels, and the falls are raging, a fine mist spreads out over the rainforest.  The usual slide down into the waterhole has some added thrills of expanded water volume, natures spa at the end included.  To think these falls are feed by Josephine Creek that starts from a trickle on the SE face of Mt Bartle Frere 7.5km away and comes to gorgeous falls plunging down over granite boulders, is another of natures cool rides.  Beauty also has hidden dangers; the waterhole is a great place to swim.  However, keep in mind flash floods have been known to hit, and the water is a torrid at the moment – not playing the fun police, just asking you to keep it in mind when going to this beautiful place.
